The Internet Future of Jazz

This story in tomorrow’s New York Times discusses ArtistShare, a company that helps jazz musicians share their music with and bare their creative process to their fans. This seems like a great thing for artists and for well-heeled, tech-savvy jazz geeks. That set may be small, but I’m definitely in it (except for the well-heeled bit). What jazz guitar aficionado wouldn’t pay $60 to watch Jim Hall give a guitar lesson, and what budding arranger could resist the chance to sift through Maria Schneider’s charts? I hope this takes off.
